The Fran’s Voyage project

Epic Arts is an inclusive arts organisation based in Leicester, working towards a world where every person has equal rights, respect and opportunities. Bringing disabled and non-disabled people together to learn through the arts provides opportunities to fulfil their potential and have their voice heard.

The power of the arts to transform lives has been demonstrated by Epic Arts projects, and in particular by Fran. Her condition gradually removed her ability to speak and write or draw, so artist-illustrator Monica Rivas helped her to create the images and layout that she envisaged for her book.

Fran’s positive spirit and sense of humour did not diminish, and she shared her exciting ideas children’s self expression, and the removal of barriers between disabled and non-disabled young people.
